Minimum Version Requirements

The following table documents the minimum required version of the DTS Software products for each currently supported IBM operating system release. While prior versions of the products may run on the selected operating system, the listed versions are the minimum supported versions.

Please note: 7.1 is the current release of the DTS Software products.

In general, users should run the most current version of all DTS Software products. All maintenance is backward-compatible so that the current version of any DTS Software product runs properly on any currently supported IBM operating system version.

Notes:

  • * NOTE: CMM was released after the z/OS 3.1 minimum supported version and is only available in SCC R7.1 SL24214 and up. CMM is not available on SCC releases below SL24214.
  • IBM z/OS 3.1 has system changes that required updates to EXT processing. Upgrade to SL23236 or higher for successful execution. Earlier versions of EXT will fail.
  • IBM z/OS 2.5 has system changes that required updates to SRS ADDVOL processing. Upgrade to SL21153 or higher for successful execution. Earlier versions of SRS will fail.
  • IBM Db2 v12 has substantial changes that required source changes to ACC and SRS. Installations migrating to Db2 v12 must upgrade to at least SCC R6.1 SL18296. Previous versions of SCC may see S0C4 abends in the Db2 address space manager and failed jobs.
  • Your current version information can be obtained with the following DIF console command: “F DIF,STATUS”
  • The Dynamic Install Facility (DIF) is not a licensed product, but is a required component under which all of the other DTS Software products run.

End of Service Policy

DTS Software products are packaged in a Service Level and are not individually upgradeable. Zaps may be distributed for certain high-priority fixes, but do not change the product’s version number. You can identify your Service Level by issuing the F DIF,SL command.

When a new version of z/OS is released, a Minimum Compatible Service Level of DTS Software products is established. Any new Service Levels released between the current Minimum Compatible Service Level and before the next Minimum Compatible Service level are fully supported alongside that version of z/OS. When IBM ends standard support for a version of z/OS, the corresponding DTS Software products are considered to have reached End of Service.

For customers experiencing issues on an unsupported version of z/OS, a zap may be written depending on the severity of the issue and expected difficulty. Customers who are experiencing issues and running a version of DTS Software products below the Minimum Compatible Service Level will be asked to first upgrade to a compatible version to see if that fixes the issue.

Below is a list of Service Levels that have reached End of Service. To see current versions, please visit the Software Release Information page.
